My work is rooted in the identity of a "maker" - a lifelong pursuit of and love for creating that has persisted throughout my life. As a child, I loved to draw. I took art in high school and was introduced to several mediums but painting was my favorite. In adulthood, raising a family and having a career left me little time to devote to painting. It was after I retired that I felt I had the time and energy to paint.
I took up oil painting in 2021 and my early work was rooted in realism but through study and regular practice, my current work has evolved into expressive realism.
